Toshiyoshi (寿吉), Hōreki (宝暦, 1751-1764), Owari – “Bishū-jū Toshiyoshi” (尾州住寿吉), “Toshiyoshi” (寿吉), first name Denshichi (伝七), according to tradition the son of the Kyōhō-era (享保, 1716-1736) 3rd gen. Jumyō (寿命), some sources list him also as student of the 4th gen. Jumyō, but the latter was active around Tenmei (天明, 1781-1789) Toshiyoshi (寿吉), Meiwa (明和, 1764-1772), Bizen – “Bizen Osafune-jū Yokoyama Takunoshin Toshiyoshi” (備前長船住横山宅之進寿吉), real name Yokoyama Takunoshin (横山宅之進), it is said that he signed later with Sukesada (祐定), he died in the sixth year of Meiwa (1769) Toshiyoshi (寿賀), Kōka (弘化, 1844-1848), Bitchū – “Sugawara Toshiyoshi” (菅原寿賀), it is said that he signed later in his career with Toshizane (寿実), real name Maeda Tetsujirō (前田鉄次郎), the characters Toshiyoshi (寿賀) – with their Sino-Japanese reading juga – mean “congratulations for a long life,” such a congratulation concerns the 61st, 77th, and 88th birthdays, he was maybe the same smith as Toshimasa (寿政) |
