歴史 History

ISHIGURO Masatsune was a founder of Ishiguro school that flourished from end of Edo period through Meiji era. He learned metal-carving under KATO Naotsune, who was a pupil of YANAGAWA Naomasa. Not only continuation of Yanagawa school’s style but establishing his own style making them motifs, such as flowers, birds and animals.

He is honoured highly as representing metalsmith of Edo culture during Bunka-Bunsei eras.
