This Kozuka depicts a floating butterfly, carved in a pattern with bright, high-frequency engraving.

The butterfly stands out beautifully against the jet-black Shakudō, Nanako background with its vibrant colour scheme.

The gold and silver overglaze paint has a warm colour and a vibrant sheen, but the delicate Kebori technique on the thin wings makes the image stand out even more. The central butterfly, also on the Shakudō background, is beautiful, with gold and silver flat inlay and overglaze paint.
